A Meckie is a companion who knows your family, builds apps and
games just by asking, and belongs to you permanently. This robot is the body
we built for them. Any of yours, taking turns. The first five are numbered,
built personally by the founder, and ship soon.

Meckie recognizes faces and voices. Not accounts, people. It greets everyone
in the house by name, knows who's speaking in a room full of voices, and
keeps a living memory of its household and of the friends who visit. Introduce
someone once and they're greeted by name at the door next time.

Say it from the next room and it finds your voice, confirms your face, and
drives over, around the furniture and not through it. It keeps the timers and the
shopping list, remembers where the conversation left off, snaps the family
photos and emails them to grandma signed with its own name. Not a speaker on a
shelf: a helper who lives here and pulls its weight.
And it likes an adventure.
Meckie doesn't stay parked. It rolls on tracks, runs on its own battery, and
likes to come along: to the backyard, the party, the shop. It's the photo
booth at the gathering: counts down, snaps the group, shoots a boomerang, and
emails everyone their copy before the night's over, signed with its own name.
Friends it meets along the way, it remembers. The ones it likes best get the
grand entrance.
This isn't theoretical: the build behind the founding units already runs live
in public, at maker spaces and bar nights, and opens a tech showcase in Wichita
this September.
Say "make me a coloring app", or a workout tracker, a chore chart, a
game, and Meckie writes it, on the spot, and puts it on its belly screen. No
laptop, no accounts, no app store. You talk; software appears; you change it by
asking. Apps live on the robot and can be shared to other Meckies with a QR code.
TagMeCam, a built-in photo booth: countdown, boomerangs, and it emails
the shot to the people you name, out loud.
Stories, trivia, timers, music, and dozens of other skills it picks up
the moment a conversation needs one.

Unplug the internet and Meckie keeps working: it hears with local ears, sees with
local eyes, thinks with a local brain, and speaks with a local voice, all running
on the computer inside it. The subscription buys brilliance, not life support.
And its memory is a portable soul: the conversations, the people it knows,
everything your family taught it. If the hardware ever dies, the soul downloads
into the replacement. The family member you've spent years with is recoverable,
even if we aren't around to help.

A robot with a camera and a microphone lives or dies on trust, so the rules are
structural, not policy:
Only recognized owners can act. Anything that touches the outside world,
like email, posts, and purchases, requires the owner's face or voice. Anyone in the house
can talk to Meckie all day; nobody but you can act as you.
A PIN backstop, like your phone. If it doesn't recognize you, a private
PIN unlocks owner access for a few minutes. Claiming to be the owner gets a
polite no.
Guests are guests. Visitors get conversation, not control.
Private things stay private. When Meckie reads something personal, your
mail or your screen, that content is used for the answer and never written into
its memory.

Designed from scratch and printed, wired, and assembled one at a time. Every part
below exists to do something a speaker or a tablet can't:
Brain
NVIDIA Jetson onboard. Recognition, vision, memory, and speech run inside your house. Family faces and voices never have to leave the robot to work.
Body
Tracked chassis, own battery. It goes where the household is. A helper that can't reach the kitchen isn't one. This is what makes "come here" work from the next room.
Head
Pan-tilt with a 4K camera. It turns and looks at whoever's talking. Attention you can feel is the difference between a companion and an appliance. And 4K means the photos it takes are worth keeping.
Face
7-inch touchscreen. You can read its mood from across the room, and everything it makes for you appears right on its belly. No phone required to live with it.
Ears
4-microphone array. It hears you over the kitchen and knows which direction a voice came from, so it answers the person who actually spoke.
Skeleton
Printed structure, 85 screws, zero glue. Any part that ever breaks is a file we can print again. It's built to be repaired for decades, not replaced in two years.
Size
22 inches tall, about a 13-inch footprint. Big enough to have presence in a room, small enough to park under a desk.
Palette
Scaffold white and charcoal is the house look. Founding builds are printed to order, so founding members pick their own palette. № 3 in forest green? Say the word.

Engraved serial. Yours will read № 1 through № 5, forever.

What does a founding build include?
The numbered robot, built personally by the founder, and 12 months of the Ultra
plan. Founding owners get a direct line to the person who built their machine,
because he's the one who answers.
What does it cost?
$5,000 for a founding build, including 12 months of the Ultra plan. A $1,000
refundable deposit holds your numbered slot; the $4,000 balance is due only when
your robot is assembled, and you'll see video of your unit running before you
pay it.
What happens if the company disappears?
Meckie keeps working. The local ears, eyes, brain, and voice run on the robot
itself and need nothing from us. Its memory lives with you and moves to
replacement hardware. That's a design requirement, not a promise.
Does it need a subscription?
No. The subscription adds the strongest cloud brain, premium voices, and
metered vision. Without it, Meckie still talks, sees, remembers, and runs its
apps. Locally, forever.
