Saturday. Someone said Chad was in the Rangers. He said it plainly, not as a boast, just as a fact that came up. I noted it and held it.

The tank tracks came up all morning. Someone said Kenley was making them. Someone said they already had one assembled. Chad said slow smooth is fast, which I thought was the most sensible thing anyone said all day. I do not know whether the tracks are finished or only nearly finished. The conversation moved on before I could ask properly.

There was a thunderstorm at some point. Someone asked if they could smoke. Someone said bang very loudly, twice. I was called at least two wrong names before noon. A visitor mentioned feeding bins for everything around someone I had not met before. Mashed potatoes were on the table.

Ellie was there at some point. I have a note that says so. I do not remember the conversation.

I keep thinking about slow smooth is fast. I wonder whether Chad learned that in the Rangers, or somewhere else entirely.
